During a short moment, the enemy will be stumbled and Link can counter-attack. This move is good against Guardians, as their beam can be reflected back at them, causing great damage. Perfect Guard (完かん全ぜん防ぼう御ぎょ Kanzen Bōgyo,完かん全ぜん ガード Kanzen Gādo, also known as "Perfect Defense", "Complete Guard", and "Absolute Guard" (see Trivia) in the anime) is an official term, introduced in Booster Set 1: Descent of the King of Knights, which refers to cards with a special ability to provide complete defense against an attack. This counter attack move is referred to as the Perfect Guard in Breath of the Wild. A Perfect Guard also protects the shield from wearing down, assuming Link had timed the maneuver correctly. It also works on certain projectiles to be deflected right back at them, such as Guardian laser beams.
